Why did you start this company , Sumit ?
Starting this company is deeply personal to me, rooted in my own transformative journey with yoga. When I moved to Los Angeles to study computer science, I had no idea that I would discover my life's calling in the practice of yoga. Living with Bikram, a renowned hot yoga guru, introduced me to a style of yoga that was vigorous, disciplined, and structured, yet surprisingly accessible. Each class left me feeling invigorated, empowered, and deeply connected to myself.
Through Bikram's teacher training in 1998, I not only gained the skills to teach yoga but also found my voice as a leader—a transformation I never thought possible for a shy kid like me. Yoga became not just a physical practice but a powerful tool for personal growth and empowerment. I witnessed firsthand how it transformed not only my body but also my mind and spirit, instilling in me a newfound confidence and sense of purpose.
In 2000, I took a leap of faith and opened my first Bikram studio in Phoenix with just $7,000. Despite the challenges, I was driven by a deep belief in the power of yoga to positively impact lives. I saw the potential to share this transformative practice with others and create a community of like-minded individuals seeking health, happiness, and fulfillment.
Since then, I've dedicated myself to leading and teaching others to find their own voices through yoga. I've witnessed countless students undergo their own profound transformations, discovering strength, resilience, and inner peace they never knew they had. It's been incredibly rewarding to witness the profound impact yoga can have on people's lives and to be a part of their journey toward greater well-being.
I believe that the world needs yoga now more than ever. In today's fast-paced and stressful world, yoga offers a sanctuary for self-care, healing, and personal growth. With my passion, expertise, and experience, I am committed to making yoga accessible to everyone and empowering individuals to lead healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives. That's why I'm driven to start this company—to share the gift of yoga with the world and make a positive difference in people's lives.
We offer a variety of yoga classes, including Bikram Yoga, Sumit's Yoga, Hot Yoga, Non-Heated Yoga, Flow and Power Yoga, Yin Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Hot Pilates, and Yoga Sculpt.
We also provide Yoga and Wellness Teacher Trainings, as well as our own clothing line and products.
Our community-focused approach is evident through our Retreats and Events, which offer individuals a chance to connect with others who share their passion for health and wellness.
